Ramdung Peak (5930m) is situated south of the Tashi Lapcha pass, which borders Khumbu and the wide Rolwaling valley. Crossing the pass into the remote valley of Rolwaling takes us to the rarely climbed peak of Ramdung. To climb this ‘hidden peak’ of the Himalayan wilderness begins with a trek into the Rolwaling valley, just recently opened to trekkers. We first make an ascent up lower Ramdung, which is lesser altitude as compared to Parchamo Peak, but a challenging climb. It requires two high camps on the northeast face route. Following the trekking glacier, we reach the Tashi Lapcha pass and prepare for the ultimate climb to Parchamo and set up a high camp. Following its northwest ridge we lead on to Ramdung to summit. After the summit, we trek through the famous Sherpa country of Khumbu, ending our trip in Lukla. From Lukla we flight back to Kathmandu.
