Gokyo lakes are located in the Khumjung Village Development Committee of Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone in north-eastern Nepal. This is the highest freshwater lake system in the world, comprising of six main lakes of which Thonak Lake is the largest. .

Gokyo valley trek is one of the most captivating treks in Nepal, rich with fascinating views of the highest peaks in the world, rushing white water rivers, cultural and serene villages and aquamarine lakes, all situated in the valley. The starting point of the trek is similar to Everest Base camp trek, we take a 30 minute scenic flight to the unique airport of Lukla, kicking off the trek in an astonishing manner. Apart from the Gokyo valley, another highlight of the trek is the strenuous Chola Pass (5,367m) which requires some endurance and patience from the trekkers and rewards the effort accordingly. This trek also takes us to the overwhelming Everest Base camp (5,364m) a true icing on the cake of this extraordinary trekking adventure.

We, at Into the Himalaya Treks and Expedition strive hard to organize the best trekking programs, placing the highest priority to all safety aspects. We believe that our planning, logistics and experience partnered with your patience and enthusiasm will help you attain the moments that you cherish for the rest of your life.

Gokyo Lake Trek is a moderate trek. If you are able to walk for around 5-6 hours each day we can easily trek for longer hours with a light back pack. The trek is easier for those who are used to walking over higher elevations. Activities such as jogging and regular exercise for couple of months before this trek would be beneficial for the physical fitness required for these kinds of treks.

Best Time for Gokyo Lakes Trekking
We can do Gokyo Lake Trek during Autumn (Sept. to November) and Spring (March to May) seasons. During this time the sky is clear, and the views are awe-inspiring. The weather is ideal for trekking without any rain. We can also enjoy lush vegetation throughout the lower regions of the trail particularly during the spring season.
